Auburn, Ala. - A street dedication was held on Tuesday for a former Auburn Industrial Development Board (IDB) Chairman who has helped recruit dozens of industries to Auburn. Dr. Paul Parks was honored during a street dedication ceremony in which “Paul Parks Lane” was unveiled in honor of the former IDB Chairman’s longstanding commitment to industrial development. Dr. Parks was a driving force on the IDB for nearly 25 years and helped bring 45 new and expanding projects to Auburn, resulting in a capital investment of almost $350 million and an aggregate job creation of approximately 2,200 jobs. The newly dedicated Paul Parks Lane is located in Auburn Technology Park West.
In addition to his industrial development accomplishments in the community, Dr. Parks has been an instrumental faculty member at Auburn University. He began serving as Vice President for Research at Auburn University in 1981, while simultaneously serving as the Dean of the Graduate School. The university’s research program experienced the largest increase in research in its history under Dr. Parks’ leadership. He later became Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Auburn University in 1993 and continued serving in those capacities until he retired.
