Auburn, Ala. - It’s time for one of Auburn’s favorite spring traditions - Auburn CityFest 2013, presented by the Opelika-Auburn News! Join Auburn Parks and Recreation as we host this annual event on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Kiesel Park. CityFest is Auburn’s largest, FREE, outdoor festival featuring live music, children’s activities, arts & crafts and fine arts exhibitors, food, non-profit booths, and much more!
Enjoy a CityFest with Caribbean flair as the Auburn CityFest Committee welcomes its headlining entertainment, A1A, the official and original Jimmy Buffett tribute show. Enjoy other live musical entertainment by the UAB Steel Drum Band, the Uncle Roy Show, and local favorite - Martha's Trouble.
Prepare yourself for sharks in the park as Auburn CityFest welcomes the Live Shark Encounter – the only traveling shark show in the United States! This educational encounter brings you up close and personal with several live species of sharks in a 7,000 gallon tank. These rescue sharks, many a result of injury that would render them incapable of survival in the wild, and their divers travel the country with a message of conservation and preservation in an effort to protect the species and educate the public.
Kids, join us in the Children’s Imagination Station, complete with inflatable games and performances by the Bama Air Dogs. Don't miss Lew-e the Clown's entertaining and educational performance, as well as a walk through ScoutFest, an interactive demonstration area presented by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Saugahatchee District. New this year, dig in and enjoy some Creative Fun at the Sand Box Built by The Home Depot!
Festival goers will have the opportunity to visit fine arts and arts & crafts exhibitors selling everything from paintings, pottery, sculpture and prints to jewelry, hand-woven baskets, children’s clothing, and much more. Explore birds of prey at the Southeastern Raptor Center tent and catch demonstrations and educational programs by the Auburn Fire Division, Auburn Police Division, and the Environmental Services Department. Be sure to visit the non-profit showcase, the children’s art exhibition, and the ArtFest tent and don’t miss special appearances by Aubie throughout the day.
