Auburn, Ala. - Auburn University has informed the City of Auburn that South Donahue Drive from Samford Avenue to Biggio Drive will be closed for the installation of a raised crosswalk May 6-12. The crosswalk will serve several university facilities including the South Donahue Residence Hall, the Biggio Drive Parking Facility, the future Auburn Wellness Kitchen project and campus as a whole. During construction, a traffic control plan will be implemented to safely detour pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular traffic around construction areas. Vehicular traffic is encouraged to use Biggio Drive and the Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum parking lot as an alternate route. The detour will provide for construction access and maximize safety by diverging public traffic away from construction equipment. Oversize vehicles that would normally travel via Donahue Drive should be coordinated in advance by contacting Ben Chapman, Auburn University Construction Project Manager, at 334-750-4635. This traffic control plan will be in place from May 6-12 2013.
