Auburn, Ala. - SiO2 Medical Products held a groundbreaking ceremony for a $90 million facility on April 9 at its construction site in Auburn.
Construction of the SiO2 Medical Products plant is currently underway at Auburn Technology Park West. SiO2 Medical Products will supply the medical industry with innovative products for the biological drugs industry.
“It is a very special product and a product that’s very much needed in the medical field,” said Governor Robert Bentley. “This is a prime example of what we’re trying to do in Alabama which is to create and announce good high-paying future jobs for this state” Bentley added.
SiO2 is expected to bring 300 jobs to Auburn as it revolutionizes the medical field with its products and related processes which are protected by 37 patents worldwide.
“We feel today’s announcement of the official arrival of this SiO2 facility will be one of the most important and significant announcements in the history of the City of Auburn,” Mayor Bill Ham said. “Not only are they excellent jobs, they are high-skilled, high-paying jobs – the kind of jobs we need here in Alabama” Ham added.
