Holiday-Themed Arts Events a Success

Auburn, Ala. - Auburn Parks and Recreation and the Auburn Arts Association (AAA) would like to thank citizens and their corporate sponsors for a sucessful season of holiday events, including the Polar Express Holiday Celebration and the Holiday Art Sale. Proceeds from these events help further the AAA's efforts to support the arts in the community through educational programs, exhibitions, and special events.

The Polar Express Holiday Celebration was held on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Kiesel Park. More than 250 children enjoyed holiday-themed arts & crafts, sweets & treats, a performance by the East Alabama Community Ballet, an inflatable - courtesy of Kinnucan's, and a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. This recreation of the magical ride to the North Pole featured a story time, games, and a trackless train as well. Special thanks to Chick-fil-A Magnolia Avenue, Earth Fare, East Alabama Community Ballet, HobbyTown USA, and Kinnucan’s for making this event possible.

Patrons of the 6th Annual Holiday Art Sale braved the construction zone at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 8 and enjoyed a day of shopping for unique, handmade holiday items from 45 local arts and crafts vendors. Citizens enjoyed sipping on apple cider, courtesy of Earth Fare, and shopped for pottery, jewelry, paintings, scarves, and ornaments to the sounds of holiday music.

Mark your calendars, the 2013 Polar Express Holiday Celebration will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7. The 7th Annual Holiday Art Sale will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14.
