The City of Auburn allocates CDBG funds to public service programs to address the needs of families, youth, and elderly. Utility, Rental, and Mortgage Assistance Programs are available to assist low to moderate-income (LMI) families having a household emergency (e.g. medical, loss of employment, eviction notice, cost burdened). The Utility Assistance Program is designed to assist elderly citizen (62 or older) or disabled citizens needing assistance up to three (3) times per program year. Rental and Mortgage Assistance Programs are designed to assist households once per program year.
CDBG funding can pay partial payments towards registration fees for LMI youth (up to age 18) to participate in sports programs available through the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department. To qualify for assistance the household must meet the HUD income requirements. CDBG funds are also allocated to local non-profit agencies that provide additional supportive services.
