Duties and Goals
The duties and goals of the Greenspace Advisory Board include the following:
- Preserve greenspace, natural beauty, wildlife habitats and critical environmental areas.
- Plan for the acquisition and funding of greenspace and its development.
- Review proposals and select appropriate locations for implementing greenways, coordinating them with existing and future facilities and recreation areas.
- Investigate ways to create greenspace along roads and major thoroughfares.
- Make roads and neighborhoods more pedestrian friendly by recommending sidewalk development and ensure that sidewalks can accommodate pedestrian and non-motorized vehicular traffic, and that they are coordinated appropriately with existing and future greenways and greenspace.
- Ensure that sidewalks can accommodate pedestrian and non-motorized vehicular traffic, and that they are coordinated appropriately with existing and future greenways and other greenspaces
- In accordance with the Mission Statement of the City of Auburn (adopted in 1995), the Greenspace Advisory Board encourages planned and managed growth as a means of developing an attractive built-in environment and protecting and conserving the City's natural resources.
