Outreach
The Auburn Police Department tasks its Community Services Section, commanded by Lieutenant James Perry, with engaging the community in a cooperative effort to work with Auburn's citizens in maintaining safety and security within the City of Auburn. The Auburn Police Department strives to make a difference for the youth of the community and to take an active part in their lives. Several Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) and school resource officers work in all Auburn City Schools during the school year and engage with students on a daily basis to assist in their development of positive relations with law enforcement.
Also, the Community Services Section hosts the D.A.R.E. Summer Camp each year. The Community Services Section provides presentations, demonstrations, and question/answer sessions for school field trips as well as various groups throughout the community. Lieutenant James Perry is assisted in managing these efforts by Sergeant Charles Nesmith and Sergeant Webb Sistrunk.
